HONEY THIS IS NORMAL!

From time to time I will be sharing bits of WISDOM I have picked up along my business life journey.

I was reminded of one of those tidbits the other night as I read my entrepreneur daughter's Facebook page. On it she apologized to all her friends for not having been in touch for the last month and promised to get back to them when things got back to normal. As a budding entrepreneur her predicament brought back hundreds of memories. Those days of business trips upon business trips, and working Saturday's and Sunday's, when many things I valued so much in my life were put on the back burner till I returned. I would always promise myself that as soon as things were normal I would work out, eat healthy, take care of myself and be in better touch with those I loved. And then one day it dawned on me: "HONEY THIS IS NORMAL!"

For most of my adult life my mom has said, "I'll eat healthy as soon as life gets back to normal." She has five children and seventeen grandchildren, and we all visit her quite regularly. Her normal was going to be when everyone stopped visiting and she could stop going out to eat and cook healthily and take better care of herself. Thankfully, and to her liking, the former never happened, but neither did the latter. As I visited her last week and watched her skip dinner in favor of a Snicker Bar I realized that eating healthy, now when she so desperately needed to, would probably never happen because HONEY THIS IS NORMAL.

And I reminded myself once again, that this moment, however I live it is the NORMAL I am creating. I used to think it was something other than now. I thought it lived in the world of ‘someday', and 'as soon as I get a chance.'  Then I realized I could easily wait for it all my life and it would always be one step out of my reach if I didn't make a change.
I finally got it!

So last week, in the middle of all the busyness and challenges of everyday life, my little sister and I took off for four days to hike Snow Canyon, in St. George, Utah. Through the years we have had many experiences together, some wonderful and some painful, but through it all we have never missed our special time together because we created our relationship that way and HONEY THIS IS NORMAL!
