“I'm so thankful for LMI packaging's commitment to community. The entire project was very creative and it gave our kids excitement about helping another good cause, Meals on Wheels. This is something I will always remember.”

Eighth Annual LMI Packaging Solutions Day of Caring Held at the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha.

On November 10th, 2017, LMI Packaging Solutions partnered with The Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha to host their 8th Annual Day of Caring. For the past 8 years, LMI Packaging Solutions has created a day where all employees come together and spend the day learning about themselves, each other, as well as, an outlet to have some fun together!

The past several years they have partnered with different local organizations to incorporate the community into the day. This year being no different. Not only did they host their event for 75 employees at the Club, they also incorporated a few activities for employees to have the chance to connect and impact the lives of the children in the local community.

The morning started with two stories of two different men who both dropped out of school, one in the 3rd grade and the other in High School. Both stories left the group with the following life lessons: When it matters don’t be silenced; when it feel’s impossible, trust the journey; learn someone’s story before you judge; show up early, be kind; make sure your servant’s towel is bigger than your ego; if you are going to do something, do it right; it is never wrong to do the right thing; how you do anything is how you do everything. The last lesson was the “STAND”. When things get tough, you stay standing, with your head high and you keep standing.

The morning concluded with all LMI Packaging Solution employees playing games that brought out teamwork and fun followed by creating with their teammates LMI’s Coat of Arms and lastly an exercise that showed everyone they are more alike than different!

After lunch, employees joined forces with the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha staff to provide an experience where the youth members of the club had the opportunity to give back to their own community by way of Holiday Care Packages that would be donated to KAFASI’s Meals on Wheels. Each youth member put together a gift bag that contained an ornament, frame and card that was made directly by the kid.

The afternoon concluded with the employees joining in and mentoring the kids through their daily enrichment activities at the club, showing the LMI Packaging Solution employees a peak into the life of the kids during their activities provided by the Club.

The whole day was built with a plan to learn that everyone walks into our lives with stories and without the venue to learn about people we aren’t given an opportunity to connect fully with each other. The day provided not only the LMI Packaging Employees the opportunity to connect on a deeper level but also learn about who the youth of our local community are and be given an opportunity to give back.

“Hearing from our employees that working with the kids at the Club was eye opening on so many levels, really creates the energy of how important these partnerships between businesses and community organizations are,” said Meg King, Human Resources Manager at LMI Packaging Solutions. “What started out as just a ‘day of work’ for our employees turned out to be so much more.”
